			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>A paper, co-authored by Juliet Eve, Margo de Groot and Anne-Marie Schmidt, entitled &#8216;Supporting lifelong learning in public libraries across Europe&#8217; has been selected as a winner of one of Emerald&#8217;s Awards for Excellence 2008. The paper was published in <em>Library Review</em> last year, and reports on the results from a European Union funded project to support lifelong learning for adults in public libraries across Europe.</p>

<p><a title="LIRG" href="http://www.cilip.org.uk/specialinterestgroups/bysubject/research" target="_blank">LIRG</a> (the Library and Information Research Group) is celebrating the <a title="LIR 100th issue" href="http://www.lirg.org.uk/lir/ojs/index.php/lir/issue/current" target="_blank">100th edition of its journal, Library and Information Research</a>. The journal, which moved to an open access web-based format at the beginning of 2007, focuses on publishing research by, and aimed at, library practitioners. This current issue includes an update from Stephanie Kenna, of the British Library, on an issue at the heart of what LIRG seeks to promote, namely a coalition for library and archive research which can provide national leadership and strategic direction.</p>
